README for route57_april24-25_weekday data

----------------------------------------------------------------
Description
----------------------------------------------------------------
"This data contains stop-to-stop travel time data for VTA’s Fast and Frequent Route 57 for April 2024 and 2025. The data was pulled directly from VTA’s CAD/AVL (Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location) system."

----------------------------------------------------------------
Purpose
----------------------------------------------------------------
"The purpose of collecting this data was to demonstrate the Route 57 prototype of a centralized Transit Signal Priority (CTSP) system and evaluate the effectiveness of centralized TSP in improving transit travel times. This effort was done as part of the Transit Realiblity Improvement and Performance System (TRIPS) Project"

Access Requirements
----------------------------------------------------------------
This dataset and its documentation was created and shared to meet the requirements enumerated in the U.S. Department of Transportation's "Plan to Increase Public Access to the Results of Federally-Funded Scientific Research" Version 1.1 << https://www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/Official%20DOT%20Public%20Access%20Plan%20ver%201.1.pdf >> and guidelines suggested by the DOT Public Access website << https://ntl.bts.gov/publicaccess/ >>, in effect and current as of April 10, 2019.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Methodological Information
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Data for Route 57 were analyzed using traffic signal controller data and VTA’s CAD/AVL records. Weekday data were collected for both the pre-implementation period (April 2024) and the post-implementation period (April 2025) to evaluate the impacts of the system on transit performance and traffic operations. The analysis examined corridor-wide conditions, agency-specific operations, and multiple time-of-day periods (AM peak, midday, PM peak, and PM late) to provide a comprehensive assessment of system effectiveness."

----------------------------------------------------------------
Data Specific Information
----------------------------------------------------------------
A. Numbers of variables (columns): 6

B. Number of cases/rows: 381

C. Each row represents: 1 travel time data point

D. Data Dictionary/Varaible List:
Intersection – Name of the signalized intersection along Route 57
Direction – Bus travel direction (e.g., Northbound or Southbound)
Metric – Performance metric being evaluated (e.g., Run Time)
Run Time: Elapsed travel time for a transit vehicle between two consecutive stops or intersections. Measured in minutes.
Dwell Time: Time in minutes that bus spent in the geofenced area of a bus stop. Measured in minutes.
ort Order: The order of the bus stops along the route, so the data can be sorted chronologically.
Time Period – Time-of-day classification (AM Peak, Midday, PM Peak)
AM Peak: 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM
Midday: 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM
PM Peak: 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
PM Late: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Year – Year of observation (2024 or 2025)
Value – Aggregated performance value for the specified metric and time period
